Do you feel a sense of life happening around you in your community? Do you walk often, or ride your bike, just because its so great to do that? Have you ever noticed something you’ve never seen before, while walking around your neighborhood? Each morning in Pacific Beach, California, feels just like that. This magical place seems to attract new and interesting people, objects, and experiences on a daily basis. I think its caused by the super saturation of sun and perfect weather. Either way, it enhances my life to live in a place that is so…alive.
On my daily journeys around the hood, I starting noticing (and photographing) points of interest, and now I continually learn that this place is even more magical than I had ever thought before! I made a conscious goal to start capturing these moments and stories to share with the rest of the world. I also started pinning them, so feel free to check that out and join in on the fun!
This also got me thinking. If I’m going to live here, why can’t Pacific Beach be one of the most beautiful neighborhoods in San Diego, if not the country? How can we make it one of the go-to places for all things, including food, culture, nature, creativity, progressive traffic solutions, and a strong local economy? I decided there are several ways, and I might as well be one of the people paving a way to institute these changes. I can’t wait to join the government.
What are you doing to help your community? Do you want more cars driving around, or more bikes and pedestrians strolling along? Do you want massive skyscrapers (China much?), or more green spaces, small public squares, and works of public art? Do you want more corporate commercialism to feel like you live in a giant outdoor mall, or do you want to support small business and that cute little coffee shop down the street? There are several small ways to make change, but I always believe that the path to your future starts with your first step forward. What are you going to do to change the world? I’m starting with pictures. 🙂
